Glimpse of Biska Jatra in Bhaktpur

The Biska Jatra started by pulling the chariot of Bhairavanath, a three-story pagoda-style chariot built in the courtyard of the five-story and Bhairavanath temple in the center of Bhaktapur city. This day in the local language is known as Dya Kuhanbijayaigu (Riding under the deity).

The Bisket Jatra, which starts with the arrival of the New Year and has historical and cultural significance, is celebrated for eight nights and nine days with great pomp in Bhaktapur, while it is celebrated for three days in Thimi.

On the first day of the Jatra, the Bisket Jatra started by pulling the chariots of Bhairavanath and Bhadrakali. According to Vikram Samvat, Biska Jatra, which is held on the basis of the solar month, has been celebrated since Lichchavikal based on the meaning of Bishseet (Naganagin died).
